Our graduate and undergraduate programs prepare our students to work in archives, museums, heritage sites, and all places engaged in making history accessible to all.

Our mission is to train professional historians and to provide specialized training in the methodology of historical interpretation and research as a basis for leadership in the profession and scholarly community.

Studying history contributes to the development of a liberally-educated individual, brings one into intimate communion with the collective memory of the peoples of the world, and allows one to approach and understand current developments from the perspective of experience.

Created in 2012 by Professor Ana Lucia Araujo, this seminar is a forum for discussion of scholarship on the history and memory of slavery and their connections with the African diaspora.
